After missing out on that deal-of-the-century Suzuki GS a week ago, THIS pops up for sale. A 360 t win is the perfect upgrade to the Cub for a beginner.

Anyone got $2k lying around?
Yes, but for you to buy a motorcycle ?
No.

If it was a CB350 with a standard transmission, I’d say go for it. The CB 360 ? Enjoy spending all your time trying to find parts - there’s not a lot of interchangeability with other models, IIRC .
Also, why bother with an automatic on such a small displacement bike?

IIRC, the 350 is a bit more sought after than the 360? It doesn’t have a front disc, but I thought something about the engine design was more preferable.

$2K USD?
No, I don’t have $26,000 Canadian lying around.

You sure?

I had a 72(?) CB350, bought it in running condition for $350 around 1999. I had dreams of vintage racing in my head. I already had the Interceptor at the time and was in a condo, so the CB sat in my sisters garage for a dozen years or so.
She moved, I brought the bike to my garage. Never got it started again, sold it for $6 50 a while back.
All in all a good experience for the 10 miles I rode it, and considering the care I didn’t take of it.

It's not an auto, people just don't know how to fill out ads.

It may not be automatic. Facebook auto fills categories without ever giving you the option to fill them in

Sounds like he’s looking to upgrade from a Cub, so the basics of two-wheel operation are presumably in place. Given that there are a hell of a lot more choices in machines with traditional transmissions, sticking to automatics limits your options massively - even without restricting the search to the pool of what’s available on the island. These were underpowered slugs, and I can’t imagine an auto improves that in any way. It certainly didn’t for the 400cc Hawks of the era.

Unless your market is really thin, I’d hold off for a 350. $2k isn’t a good enough deal to go with the 360.

The market here isn’t just thin, it’s a wasteland. At any given moment there’s only like five or so motorcycles for sale here and they’re usually $10k+ baby boomer specials.

This is very true - seems like it usually works the other way, most of the time. I’ve seen far too many cars advertised as having 3 pedals that were actually slushers.
That said, I picked up a V70 a while back that had been listed as an auto but was actually an MT5.

The 360 makes less power and has some cost cutting design features that make it less durable. They also couldn’t be raced on account of the displacement so there is much less aftermarket support. It is largely considered a step backwards.

Try a form letter to family and see if you get any takers?
I am Dr. Bakare Tunde, the cousin of Nigerian Astronaut, Air Force Major Abacha Tunde. He was the first African in space when he made a secret flight to the Salyut 6 space station in 1979. He was on a later Soviet spaceflight, Soyuz T-16Z to the secret Soviet military space station Salyut 8T in 1989. He was stranded there in 1990 when the Soviet Union was dissolved. His other Soviet crew members returned to earth on the Soyuz T-16Z, but his place was taken up by return cargo. There have been occasional Progrez supply flights to keep him going since that time. He is in good humor, but wants to come home.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
In the 14-years since he has been on the station, he has accumulated flight pay and interest amounting to almost $ 15,000,000 American Dollars. This is held in a trust at the Lagos National Savings and Trust Association. If we can obtain access to this money, we can place a down payment with the Russian Space Authorities for a Soyuz return flight to bring him back to Earth. I am told this will cost $ 3,000,000 American Dollars. In order to access the his trust fund we need your assistance.
Consequently, my colleagues and I are willing to transfer the total amount to your account or subsequent disbursement, since we as civil servants are prohibited by the Code of Conduct Bureau (Civil Service Laws) from opening and/ or operating foreign accounts in our names.
Needless to say, the trust reposed on you at this juncture is enormous. In return, we have agreed to offer you 20 percent of the transferred sum, while 10 percent shall be set aside for incidental expenses (internal and external) between the parties in the course of the transaction. You will be mandated to remit the balance 70 percent to other accounts in due course.

In that case, beggers can’t be choosers. Not a bad bike, but if given the option, you’re better off holding out for a 350.

Boo to me!
I could have sworn I’d ridden one with a front disc. But the one I’m thinking of belonged to a buddy who had a few CB350Fs , which were disc-equipped in the front.

Those are nice. The PC (and ST) seem to be great value as used tourers.

Yeah they tend to get used, and have lots of miles put on them. But they are well built enough that a high mileage one isn’t scary. My friends dad is selling his 76,000 miles 98 red ST1300 right now. I think he’s asking 2,700 right now.
I also found a 91 St1100 for 1600 bucks. That’s a lot of bike for the money.
